Co-Create Beautiful Beach—Coastal Cleanup Activity

For improving public awareness of ocean protection, TPIPLASTIC Coastal Guard Fund launched the third phase of the project “ Ocean Plastic Reduction and Beach-cleaning” in Shenzhen Bay Park today. A total of 40 parent-child families from Guangdong region participated in this activity.

With beautiful waterfront scenery , Shenzhen Bay Park not only provides citizens multi-functional activities area with a collection of leisure and entertainment, fitness, sightseeing, natural experience and etc., but also is the symbol of the image of Shenzhen modern coastal city.

The coastal beach-cleaning aims to make more citizens pay attention to marine ecology, and take practical action to protect the marine environment in which we live.

On the one hand, beach-cleaning can reduce the pollution and destruction of ecosystems by picking up plastic bottles, cigarette butts or other marine litters. On the other hand, it aims to convey the knowledge of marine ecological and environmental protection, especially through reside teach on the action to promote teenager’s awareness of environment protection.

More importantly, TPIPLASTIC is calling on more people to take action for“plastic limitation,reduction, management”, actively participate in the protection and construction of marine ecosystems.

At the beginning, volunteer leaders explained the harm of marine garbage and safety precautions, and then distributed gloves, garbage clips, garbage bags,etc..

After full preparation, 40 groups of parent-child families followed the coastal safety route to clean up the garbage. Among the activity, everyone are not afraid of tiredness and dirty, race each other to the beach, picking up plastic bottle of all sizes, cigarette butts, plastic bags, and etc., even if the garbage hidden in cracks of stone.

Children all working hard, gradually attracted nearby tourists, and there are constantly people who take the initiative to pick up the garbage, deliver it to children’s garbage bags.

As the event drew to a close, all participant sorted, weighed, and counted the coastal garbage under the guidance of staff. Finally, TPIPLASTIC members presented children file pocket, school card, ballpoint etc., which are made by recycling plastic.

Children smiled with pride when they saw the rich harvest and clean beach. Perhaps protecting the marine environment are taking root and sprouting in their hearts.

Small actions can make big difference! The public welfare activity of coastal beach-cleaning will let more people to pay attention to marine ecology, hope that more people jointly protect the marine environment, and make contributions to marine ecology protection.
